Do you feel safe in your IT career? Or are you afraid the work will be sent elsewhere or that the demand will some day begin to decline?

If you're in the US or UK, and your skillset is easily offshored, it likely could be.

This brings up an interesting discussion - what skillsets will go offshore, and which will stay home?

Now this is an international website - so while there are winners (India, China, Philippines) there are losers: people who want jobs in America or the UK.

Let's call those "rich Western counties" ... so if you're in a rich Western country, working in a problem skillset, and making more than $6,000 a year, then your job is in trouble.

What do you think?

Domestically, and specifically in the North East US, I’m speaking with Hiring Authorities and Human Recourse Managers that are having an increasingly difficult time finding qualified Functional and Funcno-technical SAP employees. These are the resources that may always be required to work domestically connected to the hip of the business side of the house. We see this ongoing trend spiking over the last few months both on full-time permanent employee and local independent contractors. Demand appears to be increasingly high with hiring authorizes more likely to utilize to sign-on bonus. The increase in the time-to-fill key BA requirements is creating a strategic interim staffing strategy 9and budget) for hiring authorities when a key Business Analyst role is open more than 90 days.

With some hiring managers I’m speaking with, SAP seems to be stealing Oracle eBusiness installs at the high end of the spectrum.

Are others seeing these short term trends?

functional resources, that is, people who understand the business and can apply information technology are in short supply.

And these sorts of positions will always have demand worldwide.

But yes, in the short term there is very short supply and very solid demand.
